Notes Toward… is a place for notes, essays, and unfinished thinking on literature, teaching, scholarship, and whatever else I happen to be reading.

Some of the writing here may grow into something else. Some of it probably won’t. The point is to have somewhere to follow an idea before knowing exactly where it leads.

I’m James Galliher, a writer and English instructor in Alabama. My interests are broad and, at present, deliberately so.
